Located just seven miles from Hernando. The lake was created by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and is rated one of the top five crappie fishing lakes in the country and offers opportunities for largemouth and white bass, as well as channel and flathead catfish. This 33,400 acre lake, has a “recreation pool” of 11,240 acres. The public can enjoy hunting throughout the year for dove, squirrel, bobwhite quail, rabbit, deer and turkey. You can enjoy excellent sailing, swimming at one of three beaches, or setting up camp at one of 333 campsites. There are picnic areas, playgrounds and a variety of events year round, including a Deer Hunt For Persons With Disabilities. Also, the Corps of Engineers and DeSoto county Disc Golf Club has rendered an 18-hole disc golf course near Pratt Road below the dam. The Lost Indian Spring Disc Golf Course is 5,623 feet (2,129 steps). Use of the disc golf course is “free”.
