DeSoto County Mississippi cities, each nestled near the other, offer unique and exciting things to do. You can choose the pace from historical attractions, outdoor recreation, sports, music and so much more.
  
The following highlights some of the attractions:

  • Hernando’s Historic DeSoto County Courthouse contains restored paintings depicting Hernando DeSoto’s voyage to discover the Mississippi River. The DeSoto County Museum has a variety of exhibits such as Native American heritage, Hernando DeSoto, Civil War, Blues, Civil Rights, and items donated by Jerry Lee Lewis.  For family fun, check out Cedar Hill Farm or the Mississippi Blues Trail Marker “Beale Town Bound,” which honors three Hernando natives, as well as the gravesite of Blues legend Gus Cannon who wrote and first recorded the song "Walk Right In".

  • Horn Lake is the home of Elvis and Priscilla Presley’s honeymoon cottage. Even though it is not open for tours, it is still a poplar site for visitors. The Mississippi Blues Trail Marker honoring “Big Walter Horton” can be found on Center Street. Latimer Lakes120-acre park features tennis courts, 20-hole disc golf course, playgrounds, baseball, three lakes and a half-acre skating park. You can enjoy mini-golf, go-karts, batting cages and driving range at S&H Small Engine and FunZone.
  • Olive Branch is the home of Brussel’s Bonsai Nursery, the largest importer and grower of bonsai in the United States. Olive Branch City Park features two-miles of walking trails, tennis courts, ball fields and a playground. Our Family Farm, a real working farm, is fun and educational. Visit Olive Branch's Old Towne shops, antiques to boutiques, and enjoy the self-guided Historic Walking Trail. Spring and Fall you can enjoy Hootenannies at the Old Towne Plaza in the shadows of old buildings at twilight.
  • Southaven’s Snowden Grove Park plays host to numerous World Series baseball tournaments.  Enjoy outdoor putt-putt, indoor batting practice and an arcade at BancorpSouth Sports Center or take in a concert at Snowden Grove Amphitheatre, which has hosted some of the biggest acts on tour, like Trace Atkins and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Greenbrook Park is known as the premier fastpitch softball complex with eight (8) pristine fields. Central park has 18-hole disc golf course. The DeSoto Civic Center is home to the MS RiverKings ice hockey team and hosts many concerts and other special events. DeSoto Family Theatre and Southaven Performing Arts Center showcase an array of incredible talent and enthusiasm for the arts in DeSoto County. Southaven’s newest attraction, Southern Thunder-Harley Davidson, will also host a variety of special events.

  • Walls is the home of the famous blues singer Memphis Minnie’s gravesite, whose headstone was purchased and placed by the modern-day blues legend, Bonnie Raitt. Her gravesite is commemorated by a Mississippi Blues Trail Marker honoring her. You will find a parking area available on top of the Bluff overlooking the Mississippi River Basin, known as the Delta, and close by, just yards off the road, are two ancient Indian Burial Mounds.

  • The community of Nesbit is home to Jerry Lee Lewis and even though it is not open for tours, passers-by enjoy snapping photos of the entertainer’s famous piano gates. The Mississippi Blues Trail Marker and gravesite of Blues legend Joe Callicott, a Nesbit native, is located on Getwell Road, and so is the Merry Christmas Tree Farm where you can pick your own Christmas tree. At the ever popular Nesbit Blueberry Plantation you can pick your own blueberries May through June.
