The Delta Bluffs Scenic Byway is a network of scenic routes that showcase what North Mississippi has to offer. From the Mississippi delta to the bluffs overlooking it, and from rolling farmlands to historic town centers, Desoto County offers a unique variety of scenic vistas, recreation and historic sites to be enjoyed by residents and visitors.

You can begin at I-55 Exit 280 in Hernandoon and follow Commerce Street to the DeSoto County Museum. From there, follow Highway 304 west.

“The Delta Bluffs Scenic Byway in Desoto County showcases the natural beauty and history of the Mississippi Delta,” said Commissioner Tagert." The towns along the byway provide a glimpse into Mississippi’s past, and are a vital part of our state’s future. Travelers will get to experience this history firsthand as they travel through Desoto County on the Delta Bluffs Scenic Byway.”

With a section of the Great River Road already established, the addition of the Delta Bluffs Scenic Byway will allow Desoto County to boast more miles o scenic byway than any other county in Mississippi.

Through community-based consensus building and the development of partnerships, a balance is established between conservation and land use that not only heightens the experience of travelers, but also improves the quality of life and promotes economic development in the communities along the path of the designated byway.

The Mississippi Scenic Byways Program (MSBP) is a grassroots effort designed to increase the focus on Mississippi’s history and intrinsic resources. The intent of the program is to identify and designate highway, road and street corridors as scenic byways in an attempt to preserve, enhance and protect the state’s intrinsic resources for visitors and residents of the state.
