Patriotism Day in DeSoto County "Rally Around the Flag"
May 11, 2013 was proclaimed Patriotism Day in DeSoto County. Beginning at noon a new flag, the tallest in the Mid-South and in Mississippi, was raised in during a special ceremony, celebrating patriotism and civic pride. The flag is 30 feet by 60 feet, standing 164 feet above the ground. read more »

DeSoto County Tourism has won four major awards for their tourism videos. Walker + Associates advertising agency produced the videos along with Running Pony Productions. The Blues and African-America heritage videos won the ADDY award. DeSoto County Convention and Visitors Bureau Wins State Award
For the second time DeSoto County Convention and Visitors Bureau Tourism Association has won the state's highest award for tourism, CVB of the Year. The award was based on bureaus with budgets of $500,000 to $750,000. DeSoto County also won CVB of the Year award in 2008, when it was in a different budget category. read more »
