2nd Annual Eagle Fest
This fall will host Eagle Fest 2014, slated as a family friendly event to showcase one of our great natural resources - wildlife. The Fest will be held in a profoundly natural and scenic setting, showcasing a variety of interactive exhibits which will highlight imaginative ways to teach children (and adults) of all ages the fundamentals of caring for and enjoying nature.
Live educational animals plan to appear in order to "share their stories". The Army Corp of Engineers will offer fantastic and fun ways to ingrain the use of life jackets, and other water safety measures. Bass Pro Shops will be on hand with games and prizes. A silent auction featuring sought-after treasures will be displayed at the main pavilion. These are just a few of the adventures that await attendees of Eagle Fest.
In conjunction with Eagle Fest, an art contest will take place for school age participants. Artwork will be displayed at the festival, featuring framed work of the top place winners.
T-shirts which come to life in the sunlight will be available for purchase, along with other unique mementos of the Eagle Fest.
Eagle Fest is designed as an initiative to begin the building process of the ARK, a 154 acre park which already has walking trails in place, and plans to build a nature center as a hub of activity for wildlife rehabilitation and education in wildlife management. It promises to be a multi-faceted jewel as a destination for school field trips, family outings, wildlife enthusiasts and nature seekers.
The ARK is a cooperative effort by the Army Corp of Engineers, Mississippi Wildlife Rehabilitation, Inc., DeSoto County and DeSoto County Greenways to open a new and exciting venue of exploration and destination.
Admission to the Eagle Fest is free. Delicious food and beverage will be available, as well as shuttle service from the parking area to the Fest. (We ask that pets be left at home.)
